WALLDORF, Germany — Nippon Gases Europe is using SAP software to consolidate its enterprise resource planning (ERP) data.
Nippon Gases Europe is implementing the RISE with SAP platform, including its ERP software, SAP S/4HANA, to integrate several ERP tools, according to SAP last month.
The move is intended to drive “holistic digital transformation” across multiple subsidiaries as well as accelerate business processes, strengthen collaboration, and enable innovation.
In Europe, Nippon Gases, a provider of industrial and medical gas, has over 100 production sites in 13 countries. The sites worked with a set of different ERP software, which involved “considerable” maintenance, updates, and servicing. There were numerous interfaces to keep current to “exchange data smoothly” between group divisions.Â
Nippon Gases started to set up a unified ERP strategy in northern Europe based on SAP S/4HANA in 2020. The first site went live in the U.K. in 2021, with half a dozen more countries to follow, starting from 2022.
The standardized ERP based on SAP S/4HANA ensures “faster and more transparent” processes at Nippon Gases.Â
The software gives the company an overview when tracking gas deliveries to help meet compliance requirements.
Nippon Gases Europe has over 3,000 employees and supplies gas to over 150,000 customers.
The gas company works “much more efficiently” with RISE with SAP and can “tackle future issues,” allowing it to optimize capacity and focus on “other innovation initiatives as part of our ongoing digital transformation strategy,” said Cesar Callejo, CIO, Nippon Gases Europe.Â
Jens Wiechmann, SAP IT manager Europe at Nippon Gases Europe, said SAP S/4HANA “gives us great scope.”
“Even away from the core ERP system, we can try out a lot of new things,” Wiechmann said.
