Amazon Launches Tech Networking Platform for Women in Japan

TOKYO — Amazon developed an online networking platform for women in Japan to support their long-term career development and options in the IT field. 

Amazon Women of World (WoW) will help address the shortage of tech talent and IT gender gap in Japan, particularly with the acceleration of digital transformations, according to the company last month.

Amazon WoW will highlight the rewarding aspects of technical jobs and offer upskilling and re-skilling to students, such as training in programming.

The platform will host various events with Amazon and AWS technical employees, such as lectures, workshops, and panel discussions. The events will promote communication with students as well as feature Amazon’s culture.

The site will provide students coaching and mentorship on career building, etiquette training, and Amazon job listings, which users can apply to in the platform.

Amazon WoW will also guide students through online technical tests and interview preparation and invite them to meet with a recruiter. 

The site is part of Amazon’s goal to provide free cloud computing training to about 29 million people worldwide by 2025.
